Age-Friendly Toolkit

OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
FOR AGE-FRIENDLY CITIES

Background

Age-friendly cities are a major challenge for inclusive communities as they commit to listening to the needs of their ageing population, assessing and monitoring their age-friendliness, and working in partnership with older people and all sectors to create inclusive physical and social environments.

Despite the good performance of Europe's age-friendly cities, their assessment reports on their latest action plans indicate that municipalities are making good progress in becoming more age-friendly.

However, there is still room for improvement on a number of cross-cutting issues:
◉ Ageing and human rights
◉ Participation
◉ Solidarity and intergenerational cooperation
◉ An integrated model of health and social care
◉ Experiences of dementia-friendly cities
◉ Technological and social innovation according to the opportunities of the demographic transition.
◉ Management of age-friendly cities
